Plaids

There is nothing like a good plaid to create a cosy, winter, rustic interior.

Throw a plaid blanket over an old coffee table and pick some branches from your garden to create a look like this.

My favourite things

One of the things I love about living in a cold climate at this time of the year is that we can enjoy a big roaring fire and all the cosy comforts that go with it. I hope you have enjoyed a lovely weekend, SallyAnn x

Snuggle up

Furs are a great way to add warmth to any room. There are a huge range of faux and the real thing available. My favourite wicker chairs are shown here with real furs thrown over the backs.

We have a similar rabbit fur in our front window at Cottle House.

A cosy fire

via Flamant
What better way to end a chilly Winter's day than to find your place beside a cosy fire place? I love the way the stacking of wood is as important to the overall design as the rest of the interior. The visual display of a collection of old fire dogs in the last photograph is an interesting touch.

New projects

The post office, living room.
loft bedroom

I have just spent two days working on projects in Thredbo and close by. The snap shots taken today were in a property built by Sonjia Schatzle near Thredbo. Sonja is a very inspirational woman to work with and no challenge is too big. She has an incredible eye and has designed and owner built this house herself. It's a one of a kind ski chalet catering for up to 18 guests. She has used recycled building materials with a neutral colour palette. Furnishings are an eclectic combination of contemporary and more traditional pieces.

More antlers

The antler detailing is used as lighting in this divine kitchen by Belgium designers Flamant. I love the way this room is dressed as a living space, not just a utility one. The cane sofas near the window and lamps on benches make this room look truly inviting.

Hunting lodge chic

Antlers are the perfect theme for mountain style decorating, creating wonderful details in lighting, decoration, linen and door hardware

Antlers create a beautiful centre piece for this rustic table

These horn door handles looked fabulous in Daylesford Organic's London store. I felt a bit weird photographing details in the ladies room, but they were too good to miss.
Happy hunting, Sally-Annx
