Holiday dreaming

Winter has been long and cold here and I can't help dreaming of being somewhere warm and lovely like this resort/spa in Phuket called Sala.

Take a break

David Lawrence sure knows how to convert his fashion skills to interiors in his gorgeous house in the Hampton's. Lovely cushions on the navy sofa, and a beautifully arranged coffee table complete with piles of books, fresh flowers and interesting pieces. Not to mention the gorgeous arrangement behind the sofa with coral and stunning lamps. Plain fabrics mixed with florals punctuated by this striking navy and white striped floor rug.

The curtains complete the look, simple yet with the taupe border top and bottom are so simple. I wish I was on holidays in this lovely home right now. Have a lovely weekend. SA x

Sign it

There is something lovely about beautifully monogramed linen, but why stop there. Embroider upholstery, cushions and guest towels.

I once received an elegantly embossed, monogramed thank you letter which inspired my love of monograms which I suspect will be with me for life.

Cottage renovation

The renovation of our little workman's cottage continues and we are narrowing down the selections for the bathroom. I am leaning towards timber lined walls combined with Carrara marble and a white painted timber vanity. All three of these pictures provide inspiration of the elements I love while still retaining a look and feel, consistent with our cottage.

Pretty in pink

Pink and feminine seems to be making a come back . Soft pretty pastels are appearing all around me and are such a lovely change from the neutrals we have been seeing in abundance over the past few years. Enjoy your weekend!

Rose St Trading Co.

One of my favourite shops in Melbourne is Rose st trading co in Armadale. Kate and Alex, the owners, have exceptional taste and fill their shop with gorgeous jewellery, cashmere jumpers, home wares, linen and furniture . It is very Melbourne and tucked away like a hidden treasure in a little street off the beaten track. Some of their new jewels included aquamarine beads mixed with fresh water pearls, sterling silver balls and hearts. Well worth a visit if your heading to Melbourne. We have some of their new jewellery arriving soon to Cottle House.

Their new upstairs room is filled with beautiful blankets and bedlinen, all in lovely taupe's, powder blues and pale pinks. I wish I lived closer.

Shopping in Melbourne

For the last week I have been shopping for my shop Cottle House at the Melbourne Gift fair. I am very excited about all my purchases and look forward to sharing them with you. On my last day in Melbourne I did a dash around some of my favourite haunts and discovered a few new ones. The new Ralph Lauren inspired Seed shop in Hawksburn village is a visual treat.

Wicker, flowers, aged oak furniture, lots of white tongue and groove walls, sisal rugs on dark stained timber floors. This shop has many of my favourite ingredients for a gorgeous interior. It has lifted retail to a new level.

The clothing is gorgeous too. For effortlessly, casually, chic clothing they really know how to put things together in style.

I had my husband double parked out the front but couldn't resist trying on this pretty shirt. Apologies for not arranging it better before I took this photo, I was in a rush. Sally-Annx

Mixed dining

For an eclectic dining mix or to add extra guests to your table, why not mix it up with an assortment of seating from sofas, wing chairs and others?

Experiment with your own collection and see what fun you can have.

Horsing around

Veranda

I guess my love of Ralph Lauren leads me to these images with a "horsey" theme even though I am not a rider. The 1st image is my favourite with riding boots and the horse bit handles on the chest of drawers.

Rearrange and transform

A lovely summer palette of inspiration. Try grouping objects together in new ways to see how they look first before placing them around your room as suggested by Lynda.

Object placement can completely transform. Try something new.

I have been following Lynda Quintero-David's blog for a little while now and particularly love her recent post on her home and thought I would share it with you. She is a fashion and home stylist and merchandising expert. She has such an eye for placements of objects and you can see her merchandising background coming out. Simple things can transform a room like cushion selection and placement and the display of artwork. See her blog today focal point and be inspired. Enjoy your Tuesday, it's wet and bleak here, a good day for rearranging your rooms. Enjoy!
